Explore the importance of African origins in popular dance genres, this documentary film screening is a not-to-be-missed highlight of the 2024 Black History Month celebration in Calgary.

On February 24, 2024, the UNGANISHA: Explore. Connect. Dance. film will showcase sections, dedicated to Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Cuban, Hip Hop, Jazz, Step Dancing, Samba, Capoeira, Salsa, and Tap, showcasing the beauty and cultural significance of each dance, linking back to African culture. The film becomes a universal unifier, celebrating diversity, resilience, and the universal language of dance that unites us all. UNGANISHA is not just a visual feast; it’s a celebration of the enduring influence of African traditions on the global stage. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion.
