KP Smith (also known as Kathryn to anyone who asks) is a singer songwriter from Calgary. Kathryn wrote her first song after being lovingly dared by her band mates at the time, and since then it’s been an evolving passion and practice alongside her theatre projects. Her music is predominantly folk based, with indie flares, unusual lyrics, and stories that bridge the gap of autobiographical and fictional. She writes from the queer lens and is a proud advocate with the LGBTQ2+ community. She released her first solo EP She Reads Maps in 2016 after recording it in Rosebud with Paul Zacharias. Her song Neighbour’s Talk went on to win the 2016 Ship and Anchor Songwriting contest and last year she was a finalist for the South Country Fair Song Writing Competition with the new song Unpleasant.
Up next she plans to work on devising a new full length album while continuing to devise new art and meet new pals.
