Trans & Non-Binary 101

November 4, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Back by popular demand, it’s Trans & Non-Binary 101: Terminology, Lived Experience, and Supports.

This workshop will explore the developing language of trans identity, explore the lived experience for trans people including the realities of the health care system and social changes which affect the community. This session will also develop allyship tools for supporting Trans people and their families across a variety of contexts.

This session is open to anyone who is looking to create a deeper understanding of how they can support coworkers, family members and neighbours as we create a more empathetic and connected world.

Training delivered by Calgary Queer Arts Society’s OutReels Allyship Education & Training Program: Since 2009, OutReels has delivered over 500 diversity education workshops for thousands of Albertans, using film, story and lived experience as a vehicle for learning, discussion and empathy.

Whether you’d like to host a workshop or screening for your office, student group or community organization, OutReels will come to you (virtually, for now!) to facilitate a discussion on a topic of your choice. Their workshops, and the option to pair it with a screening from their library of available films, will spark remarkable dialogue that stimulates, inspires, and fosters compassion through understanding.

Registration Information:
1. RSVP directly through Demio, our virtual webinar platform: https://my.demio.com/ref/b57DdjxDRXss0caC
2. An email reminder will be sent out to you with further information about the webinar

4. You can join the session from your computer or mobile device.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we at Calgary Pride honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Iyarhe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that the territory we work and live upon is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the Northwest Métis homeland.

We thank these communities for their stewardship of the land we collectively inhabit today.
