Coat Check will be available during this event. \n3 Sept: Pride Patio Party\nDrag and Dancing 2pm-3am\nThe biggest day of all! Make your way to Backlot after the parade to enjoy community\, craziness\, drag\, and dancing! This is a solo-friendly event so bring just yourself or come with friends!\n– American Sign Language Interpreter provided \nThis event is respectfully taking place on the ancestral home\, culture and or teaching of the Treaty 7 signatories which includes Siksika\, Piikan\, Kainai\, Îethka\, Stoney Nakoda Nation consisting of the Chiniki Bears Paw\, Good Stoney Bands and Tsuut’ina Nation. SUMMARY:Through the Multiverse: Queer Media Today - A lecture by Amy Villarejo
DESCRIPTION:While queer narratives and characters appear (ubiquitous) across media and platforms\, what kinds of stories claim our attention and interest? What priorities emerge as queer and trans lives are imperiled by assaults by the rabid right? This is less an attempt to survey the field than to take a few inspiring examples by queer and trans makers and submit them for our collective scrutiny and enjoyment.\nAmy Villarejo joined UCLA’s Department of Film\, Television\, and Digital Media in 2020. Her research focuses on queer cinema and media\, critical theory\, and television; most recently\, she has published the 3rd edition of Film Studies: The Basics (Routledge\, 2021) and the Oxford Handbook of Queer Cinema (with Ron Gregg\, Oxford UP\, 2021).
